About the role

We are seeking a passionate Chef to join our amazing team at one of Canberra's icons, the Statesman Hotel, for an immediate start. A favourite among locals, our newly renovated establishment features a 200-seat restaurant and beautiful function spaces. Our team is responsible for ensuring an incredible culinary and hospitality experience for all our wonderful patrons.

Our culinary team services a 7-day trade in the Hotel for lunch and dinner service. The offering revolves around classic pub fare, however our team also enjoys the opportunity to be creative through our incredible specials Menu.

This is a casual or PPT position which reports to a skilled Head Chef, with the opportunity for career development and superior on the job training.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes from the hotel's diverse menu offerings

Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and safety

Assisting with menu development and recipe creation

Supervising and training junior kitchen staff

Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and adheres to all relevant health and safety regulations

Collaborating with the wider hotel team to provide an exceptional dining experience for guests

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Chef in a similar high-volume, hospitality environment

Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious, visually appealing meals

Excellent time management and organisational abilities to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen

A team-oriented approach with the ability to lead and mentor junior staff

Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and quality standards

Relevant qualifications in Hospitality or Culinary Arts, or equivalent experience
