About the role:

The primary purpose of the Administration Support Officer/Receptionist role in Nhulunbuy is to deliver professional customer service and administration support in a culturally appropriate manner to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage front of house face to face enquiries, at the Nhulunbuy Regional Support Office.

2. Respond and redirect telephone and email enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Organise charter, domestic flights, car hire and accommodation bookings and confirm registration at events, inclusive of the processing of Travel Authorisations, for the CEO and Councillors, and liaison with Council Service Managers to ensure awareness of Councillors.

4. Liaise with the finance team and the CEO to assist with the acquittal of credit card transactions.

5. Coordinate and organise charter and domestic flights for staff of the Nhulunbuy Regional Support Office.

6. Organise catering requirements for Council meetings.

7. Assist with accounts receivable / accounts payable functions and record keeping / documentation management and other daily administrative duties as required by the

Regional Manager – Tenancy and Leasing.

8. Actively participate in all offered training and development opportunities.

9. Comply with all reasonable Workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

10. Other duties as reasonably directed by the CEO and Regional Manager – Tenancy and Leasing.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

Ability to provide administration and financial support in an office environment.

Sound computing skills and knowledge, including experience using Microsoft Office software, including Excel spreadsheets, and the ability to learn new software systems.

Proven ability to organise and maintain documents with good time management skills to ensure workloads are maintained and deadlines are met .

Be able to work under pressure with competing priorities.

Ability to exercise initiative, good judgement and discretion.

Sound literacy and numeracy skills.

Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to effectively deal with a variety of stakeholders, negotiate and resolve conflict.

Attention to detail and a willingness to learn new tasks and gain new skills.

Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment as well as the ability to work autonomously / unsupervised as required.

A current and valid C Class Driver’s License with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

Previous experience in a similar administration or customer service role, including experience with travel booking.

Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations’ communities.

Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.

Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.

All employment with the EARC is subject to a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the inherent requirements to their position.

Employees must also be prepared to travel to remote communities via various means, including 4WD vehicle and light aircraft.

Full Time Permanent Employment

Level 4 - Salary $75,941 - $82,983 (excluding super and locality allowance).

You will also benefit from 6 weeks of Annual Leave with 17.5% leave loading.
