About the Role
As the Community Support Worker at our Tewantin Community Support Centre, you will be responsible for undertaking administrative tasks and providing support to the various program across the service. You’ll be the first point of contact for community members service providers, and staff, providing a welcoming, respectful and professional environment.
Your day will involve balancing customer service and practical support tasks, from coordinating room bookings to connecting vulnerable individuals with appropriate supports and ensuring the reception area runs efficiently. This is a fast-paced, varied role that suits a capable, compassionate, and well-organised team player.
We are seeking a team member who brings a well-balanced, self-aware, and professional approach to their work. The nature of this role requires someone who can maintain clear boundaries, demonstrate emotional resilience, and respond calmly and effectively in challenging situations. A strong understanding that client wellbeing is always the priority is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Centre and Front-of-House Operations
Greet and support clients, staff, community visitors, and stakeholders in person and over the phone.
Respond to general enquiries and connect community members to appropriate staff or services.
Build rapport with visitors and clients, offering information about internal and external support options.
Support community service providers and volunteers accessing or delivering services at the centre.
Ensure communal spaces, including reception, kitchen, meeting rooms and Community Showers & Laundry, are clean, stocked, and welcoming.
Administrative & Operational Support
Answer phones, respond to email enquiries, and manage incoming and outgoing mail.
General Administrative tasks such as photocopying, binding as required
Maintaining keys, pin code and security card access registers
Developing signage (internal & external), excel spreadsheets and power point where required
Maintain up-to-date client and service records, including accurate data entry into databases.
Organise supplies and resources, including stationery and amenities; complete general errands as required.
Coordinate meeting rooms and spaces including set-up, pack-down, and basic tech support.
Support internal reporting by collating visitor numbers, feedback, and other relevant data.
Assist with scheduling, event preparation, and supporting team activities.
Team and Organisational Collaboration
Contribute to the efficient and positive functioning of the team and centre environment.
Participate in team meetings and planning sessions, offering insights and feedback for service improvement.
Represent Youturn values in all interactions—showing professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
Support the promotion and delivery of local events, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.
About You
You are a warm, reliable professional who can switch between welcoming visitors, coordinating logistics, and keeping the admin running smoothly—often in the same hour. You thrive in dynamic, people-oriented environments and take pride in providing respectful, non-judgemental support.
Essential Criteria
Certificate III in Community Services or a related qualification (or working towards it).
Demonstrated experience in a frontline customer service, administrative or community-facing role.
High level of professionalism and interpersonal communication skills—both written and verbal.
Sound digital literacy, with competency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team.
Confidence in engaging with vulnerable or at-risk individuals in a respectful, trauma-informed way.
Commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and ethical practice.
Desirable
Knowledge of local community services and networks in the Noosa/Tewantin area.
Previous experience working in a community centre, support hub or multi-agency service.
Basic understanding of social issues affecting vulnerable people (e.g. housing, mental health, domestic and family violence).
Other Requirements
Current Open C Class Driver’s Licence
Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
Willingness to obtain or currently holds a Licensed Care Suitability Check
