About the Role
We are seeking resilient, compassionate and experienced female Mental Health/Disability Support Workers to join our team working with people with psychosocial challenges.
You will be working directly with complex trauma, mental health challenges and learning difficulties. Your flexibility across a 24/7 roster will help provide consistent, holistic support for individuals to build their capacity and achieve their goals.
Sleep over shifts and some weekend work is a requirement.
This role specifies Disability Support Worker roles for persons of a particular sex to meet the needs of the participants in accordance with an exemption granted from sections 8, 10, 25, 27 & 51 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Key Responsibilities
Ability to use clear and concise language in verbal communication and set clear boundaries
Ability to calmly de-escalate emotive situations
Ability to apply understanding of ‘duty of care’ to delivering support services and escalate issues when required
Ability to write and maintain accurate written records and documentation
Flexibility in delivering a broad range of services for NDIS participants
Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
Essential Criteria
Certificate IV in Community Service/Disability Services or equivalent qualification
Current unrestricted Drivers Licence
Current First Aid/CPR certificate
Current NDISWC
Current WWC
Experience in the disability or mental health, OOHC sectors
Available to work sleepover shifts
A responsible attitude and strong rapport building skills – strong skills in maintaining positive, dignified and respectful relationships with participants, their families and other health and support workers
