The Role
The Aboriginal Response Practice Lead – Orange Door is a practice leadership position in each Support and Safety Hub located at Orange Door (Hub). The position is an established leadership position within the Orange Door Hub and works as an imperative part of the team. Auspiced by Wathaurong, this position works in close partnership with the Hub Manager, Practice Leaders, the Aboriginal Hub Practitioner, and Team Leaders to lead high quality, culturally safe and effective responses to Aboriginal people seeking support and safety through the Hubs.
About you
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent qualifications and/or experience in the field.
Experience in the Family Violence sector (minimum 4 years).
Demonstrated experience in leading family violence practice within complex service delivery models such as multi-disciplinary and multi-agency setting or programs.
A strong knowledge and understanding of the drivers/causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability and an ability to identify external trends and factors and use knowledge of the field of family violence to anticipate required service improvements.
Case management, risk and needs assessment, and safety planning experience.
Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Leads with best practice and sets a high standard, motivated and positive approach to new challenges.
The ability to maintain best practice while working under challenging circumstances such as working with those exposed to significant trauma.
Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.
Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
Desirable
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
Working knowledge of Orange Door Practices, systems, and requirements.
