As a Regulatory Specialist, you'll help us connect more than five million Queenslanders and 241,000 businesses to a world-class energy future. Your work with us is about every light turned on, every community connected, and every future made possible.

  • Competitive Salary starting from $194,088 + 14.75% super (working a 10 day fortnight)
  • Shape and influence regulatory outcomes in the interests of customers.

We believe every employee deserves the opportunity to enjoy a work-life balance that enhances their overall wellbeing and performance through inclusive and supportive benefits.

Ask us about:

  • Career development
  • Health & wellbeing programs
  • Leave offerings (including 14 weeks paid parental leave - at full or half pay, plus additional leave purchasing)
  • Inclusive workplace facilities
  • Free undercover secure parking, with access to onsite charging stations for electric vehicles

The opportunity:

As a Regulatory Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in navigating dynamic regulatory landscapes and enabling business success across Powerlink.

  • You'll monitor, research and analyse economic and market regulatory developments—such as National Electricity Rule changes and national energy reviews—to assist in developing Powerlink's positions on external consultations.
  • You'll prepare advice on regulatory matters and compliance and assist in coordinating Powerlink's input.
  • You'll help communicate regulatory insights across the business to inform their practical relevance and impact.
  • You'll build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve appropriate regulatory outcomes.
This position also supports broader Network Regulation team initiatives as required.

The people you'll join:

Reporting to the Manager Regulation, you'll join as a member of our Network Regulation group within Powerlink's Network Investment Division.

The Regulation team plays a pivotal role in shaping its regulatory strategy and outcomes through analytical rigour and forward-thinking mindsets. Collaborating across the business and with external stakeholders, the team challenges assumptions, interrogates complex information, and delivers thought-provoking insights. In a rapidly transforming energy landscape, they remain curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement. Their work drives meaningful outcomes for customers and supports Powerlink's strategic regulatory objectives.

What you'll bring:

You'll hold a degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Economics, Law, or another relevant discipline, coupled with demonstrated experience in identifying, analysing and coordinating economic and/or market (technical) regulations.

You'll bring an inquisitive mindset and apply sharp critical thinking, backed by hands-on experience navigating economic and market regulation.

With a proactive and growth-oriented mindset, you'll embrace continuous development, welcome challenges, and thrive in a dynamic environment. You'll bring clarity to complexity—reviewing and analysing regulatory issues, and translating them into actionable insights.

You'll identify emerging regulatory matters, engage confidently with internal teams and external stakeholders, and brief senior leaders with impact. Your regulatory insights will be instrumental in shaping meaningful outcomes.
