Job Title: Marketing and Communications Lead
Location: Mahboba’s Promise, 72 Agincourt Marsfield
Reports To: Executive Officer
Time Commitment: Part Time – 3 days / week

Mahboba’s Promise is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan, surrounding regions, and Australia.
The organisation has been in operation for 25 years, committed to building a prosperous future for marginalised women, children, widows and orphans. More recently the organisation has also pivoted to provide specialised support to the growing cohort of refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan and surrounding regions here in Sydney.
Through connections with communities in Afghanistan, we have delivered critical humanitarian aid during crises and driven long-term sustainable change through a range of programs including four orphanages across rural provinces in Afghanistan, outreach programs, schools and education programs, healthcare clinics, micro-businesses, agricultural skills building projects and women empowerment initiatives. To date our work has positively impact over 1.6 million people.

Role Overview
We’re seeking a dynamic and strategic Marketing & Communications Lead to strengthen and expand our connection with clients, partners, supporters, and volunteers.
In this pivotal role, you will drive the development and execution of our marketing and communications strategy—designing impactful campaigns, leading our digital presence, and crafting compelling content that inspires action, grows our community, and elevates our brand.
This is a unique opportunity to lead from the front. You’ll combine high-level strategic thinking with hands-on implementation to amplify our voice and mission, expand our donor base, grow our audience, and foster meaningful partnerships.
Reporting directly to the Executive Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with our leadership team, small team of staff, dedicated volunteers, our Afghanistan office, and the Partnerships & Fundraising Manager to transform ideas into measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Strategic Marketing:
Develop and implement the annual marketing and communications strategy aligned with the charity’s strategic goals.
· Support the fundraising strategy
Through marketing and communications interventions, that promote the organisation’s programs and activities.
· Campaign Management
Design and Drive regular Marketing campaign with the strategic use of our email and donor lists
· Donor Relationship:
Design donor engagement strategies to cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors. Implement donor recognition programs to acknowledge contributions, enhance donor satisfaction and identify opportunities for increased engagement.
· Brand Management:
Amplify the charity’s award-winning accomplishments across all platforms.
Identify opportunities to enhance brand visibility and build meaningful relationships with donors, funders, and sponsors.
· Communication and Media Relations:
Cultivate relationships with media, community partners, and corporate sponsors to promote the charity’s initiatives.
Build relationships with media outlets and secure press coverage to highlight our work and achievements.
· Analytics and Reporting:
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities, using insights to refine strategies.
Provide regular updates to leadership on campaign outcomes and recommendations.
· Volunteer Collaboration:
Work closely with volunteers to leverage their skills and ensure seamless execution of campaigns.
Manage volunteer communications, providing guidance and fostering collaboration.
About You …
We’re looking for an outcome-focused, autonomous marketing professional who can translate insights into action and take our organisation to new heights.
This role requires someone who thrives both collaboratively and independently, working cross-functionally, building strong relationships, managing priorities, and using analytics to optimise performance and maximise ROI.
Key Skills and Experience:
Proven experience leading end-to-end marketing and communication campaigns and projects — from concept to execution and evaluation.
Strong understanding of digital marketing with hands-on expertise in social media, digital advertising, and analytics tools.
Proficiency in platforms such as Mailchimp, Salesforce, and website CMS.
Ideally, tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and storytelling
Strong project and time management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Solution-focused with a proactive attitude and adaptability, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit—ready to embrace change and contribute to a dynamic team.
