Senior Data Engineer
We’re proud to be partnering with a major State Government department on a high-impact data transformation program. They’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer with deep Microsoft Azure expertise to help design, build, and optimise large-scale data pipelines, analytics platforms, and secure data ecosystems.

This is a 12-month daily rate contract based in Melbourne, offering a hybrid work model and paying $800–$900 per day + GST, depending on experience.

About the Role

You’ll play a crucial part in developing modern, scalable data solutions within Azure, supporting key business intelligence and machine learning initiatives. The role will suit someone who thrives in complex environments and has a proven background in delivering robust ETL pipelines, optimised data models, and insightful reporting solutions.

Key Skills and Experience – Mandatory

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in creating ETL processes
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Azure data stack
• Strong SSIS and SQL scripting capabilities
• Expertise with T-SQL: stored procedures, views, indexes, and performance tuning
• Proven experience working with large data volumes, including profiling, cleansing, and transformation
• Solid understanding of data security, data modelling, and performance optimisation
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines
• Ability to document data lineage, metadata, and transformation logic clearly
• Background in data migration, including testing and validation

Desirable

• Power BI dashboard development and optimisation
• Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills
• Familiarity with government data governance and privacy standards
