Contract | Melbourne (3 days on-site) | Australian Citizenship & Baseline Clearance Required

We're working with an enterprise consultancy delivering cloud-first, data-driven solutions to public sector clients. They’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer for an initial 5-month contract.

You'll be joining a high-performing delivery team working on large-scale digital transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings strong architecture and hands-on data engineering experience to the table.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data platform solutions using SQL, Python, and Databricks
• Collaborate with Integration and Data Architects to ensure end-to-end integration between systems and data models
• Act as a subject matter expert and provide architectural guidance across the team
• Support decision-making across multiple squads and engage stakeholders at all levels
• Mentor team members and contribute to a high-performing, technically sound environment
• Stay current with emerging trends in data platform and cloud technologies
• Troubleshoot and resolve architecture and performance issues

What You’ll Need:

• Experience with SQL and Python for building, maintaining, and optimising data pipelines and transformations
• Solid working knowledge of Databricks, including notebook development, job orchestration, and Delta Lake
• Deep understanding of data architecture principles and experience contributing to data platform design
• Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions, ideally within Azure environments
• Experience working in secure, enterprise-grade projects, with an understanding of compliance and governance requirements

Note: Due to project requirements, Australian Citizenship and Baseline Security Clearance are mandatory.
