About the Opportunity
The Australian Museum is looking for one fixed term Exhibition Project Officers and multiple casual Exhibition Project Officers to join the exhibition team for FY25 - 27
We are looking for experienced professionals who can work as part of the Exhibition Production team to ensure that exhibitions are delivered on time, maintained to the highest standards and are engaging, enjoyable and safe for our visitors.

- Part-time, 3 days / 21 hours per week Engagement Period: September 2025 - June 2027
Project Overview
This fixed-term role will support the delivery of two key projects:
- First Nations Gallery - The new permanent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander exhibition.
- Mini Museum - An educational outreach program that provides resource kits for early learners. The program aims to build scientific literacy, foster a deeper understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures, and promote care and responsibility for the natural world.
For the fixed term opportunity, you will be paid a competitive annual salary rate $75,728 - $92,701, pro-rated, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.
- Casual Exhibition Project Officer Support Pool
- We are looking to increase the number of skilled Exhibition Project Officers available in the Exhibition Project Officer pool for FY25-27.
- Employment period: up to 12 months.
- The allocation of shifts will be provided on a seasonal, irregular, intermittent, short-term or as required basis.
For casual pool appointments you will be paid a competitive casual hourly rate $44.92 - $54.99, pro-rated, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the production and delivery of museum exhibitions as well as working collaboratively as part of a project team.
- A strong skillset in fabrication and construction or preparation, including maintenance management, estimating & costing and network planning.
- It is also desirable that you hold a current and valid: NSW driver's licence, Construction White Card.
Knowledge & Experience
- Prior experience with Exhibition fabrication tasks such as carpentry/cabinet making, molding and casting, model making, metal fabrication, mount making, as well as exhibition installation/de-installation.
- Current knowledge and working experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
