ABOUT THE POSITION

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Project Officer/ Graduate Engineer to join a local government infrastructure team. This contract role is perfect for a graduate or early-career professional who enjoys a mix of technical site inspections and office-based processing.

You’ll play a key part at the end of the Development Application (DA) process — inspecting driveways, assessing for compliance, ensuring no damage to public assets, and liaising with developers to bring works up to council standards. Once rectified, you'll reinspect and release the damage deposit.

You’ll also handle driveway application assessments, conduct formwork inspections, and prepare scope of works using basic AutoCAD. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a practical mindset are key.

DUTIES

• Inspect driveways post-construction to check for damage and compliance
• Liaise with developers to explain standards, request rectifications, and reinspect
• Process damage deposit refunds upon successful final inspection
• Manage driveway applications and conduct site inspections
• Conduct basic formwork and infrastructure inspections
• Coordinate between internal stakeholders and developers
• Maintain records and follow up on outstanding compliance items

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and a practical, solution-focused mindset
• Basic AutoCAD skills and understanding of construction plans
• Some experience in project management, contract management, or asset inspection is ideal, but not essential
• Class C Driver Licence
