Finance Officer – Maternity Leave Cover (Minimum 6 Months)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Officer to join our team on a fixed-term maternity leave cover for a minimum of six months.
Position Description
Key responsibilities include:
Following up on outstanding invoices and liaising with budget managers to ensure timely approvals
Accurate and timely processing of invoices, reimbursements, and batch payments in line with business terms
Maintaining, collating, and reconciling all purchase order records, including complex PO management
Supporting budget manager with online purchases and processing payments via credit card
Managing and maintaining online trade accounts (e.g., Amazon, United, Bunnings, Woolworths, fuel suppliers)
Maintaining the creditor database: creating, activating, and deactivating creditors in the Synergetic system, and verifying accounts via EFTsure
Reconciling credit card and online trade account transactions
Updating the fixed asset register and preparing depreciation schedules
Assisting with month-end processes, including accrual and prepayment journals
Preparing monthly income and expenditure summaries for various faculties and business units
Providing support during interim and final audits
Key Selection Criteria
Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in an accounts payable or accounting role
Solid understanding of accrual accounting, accounting standards, and GST requirements
Proficiency in financial systems and intermediate-level Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
