About the role

Staughton College is seeking a dedicated School Maintenance & Grounds Person to join our team. This full-time role will be based in Melton South, VIC 3338 and will be responsible for maintaining the school's facilities and grounds to a high standard.

What you'll be doing

Under the direction of the Facilities Leader follow a work schedule for the College's maintenance and grounds.

Routine inspections to identify repair and maintenance requirements.

Provide assistance to staff with practical arrangements for functions, assemblies, exams and other school event including but not limited to moving furniture, packages and deliveries.

Assist the school in maintaining a clean environment, ensuring paths of travel are clear by collecting litter around the school grounds including operating the ride on sweeper.

Graffiti and chewing gum removal along with other cleaning tasks as required.

Provide care and maintenance of the school grounds, including maintenance of the school's gardens and new plantings in line with the school's landscape plan.

Locking/unlocking of school gates and facilities.

Painting

Assist with internal OH&S audit inspections

Other duties as directed by Facilities Leader, College Services Leader or Principal

What we're looking for

Demonstrated experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, preferably in an educational or institutional setting

Strong practical skills and problem-solving abilities

Proficiency in the use of common tools and equipment

Excellent communication and customer service skills

A keen eye for detail and a commitment to high standards

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

A current driver's license and own reliable transport

This position requires attendance of 21 days during school vacation periods. A leave purchase allowance is paid for this attendance.

Start and finish times will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
