In collaboration with the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), Curtin University is pleased to invite applications as part of our Academic Casual Conversion Program (the Program) within the Curtin University Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (2022-2025).
About the Program
This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic academic community. The Program is designed to transition casual academics into ongoing roles, enhancing the stability and career progression opportunities for our valued sessional staff.
To be eligible to apply for this position under the program, applicants need to:
- Be a casual teaching academic with experience teaching at least two terms in the last two years within higher education in Australia

About this Opportunity- Teaching Academic
The School of Education is seeking to enhance its capacity and leadership within Education through the appointment of 1 x Continuing Academics, with appointments at either Associate Lecturer (ALA) or Lecturer (ALB) level, who will undertake teaching and scholarship-related to learning and teaching. Applicants who hold a doctorate should apply as ALB (Lecturer). You will need to be passionate about delivering high-quality, modern and innovative teaching and scholarship, and knowledgeable about how that teaching and scholarship (a) informs quality pre-service teacher and early childhood education, (b) supports students, teachers, administrators, academics, community members and policymakers to understand and act on their agency, (c) works to include language, culture and pedagogical traditions of First Nations people, and (d) advocates for equity and excellence in education.
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

- Associate Lecturer or Lecturer Full-time (part-time will be considered). Teaching Academics with a background and specialisation in Education may apply in the following subject area:

Essential Criteria
- ALA does not require a PhD qualification.
- A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (ALB)
- Proven high-level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective and collaborative approach to teaching and an up-to-date knowledge of contemporary schools
- Experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination
- Experience in research and/or in the scholarship of learning and teaching (ALB – not essential if applying at level ALA)
- Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students, staff and the educational community with cross-cultural sensitivity
- Educational qualification with a demonstrated background and/or experience in the relevant curriculum/discipline(s) specified.
