About the Role:

Curtin School of Nursing is offering an outstanding opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to take a Leadership role as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching & Research). This is a continuing, full-time position, although part-time candidates may also be considered.

The aim of this position is to support the strategic priorities of the School and Faculty, with a particular focus on advancing Aboriginal leadership, engagement and development pathways within the Faculty of Health Sciences, located on Whadjuk Nyungar Country.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Foster the process of integrating Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and ways of being into and across the school’s curricula.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching fostering Indigenous knowledges, perspectives and ways of being and doing to undergraduate, and postgraduate students through a variety of learning activities and innovative curricula.
  • Supervise student programs, manage course-related administrative tasks, and provide mentorship to enhance student success.
  • Lead competitive, high-impact research projects, seek funding through grant applications, and share your findings through reputable publications and conferences.
  • Foster a collaborative academic community and promote interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Network and establish external partnerships

Selection Criteria - Who we are looking for:

  1. A PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline *Nursing, Midwifery, Oral Health or Paramedicine.
  2. Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching.
  3. A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
  4. An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  5. Evidence of an established national reputation and growing international profile and a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
  6. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise HDR students.
  7. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
