JOB DESCRIPTION
Live your dream job as a Specialist in Wetlands Maintenance with the Native Space Team based in North and West of Melbourne.
The Senior Specialist in Wetlands Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the successful delivery of d maintenance projects by ensuring they are delivered to budget, time and brief.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
· Familiarity with and understanding of Melbourne Water (MW) Guidelines for construction of Urban Waterways and Wetlands
· Knowledge and understanding of MW guidelines for plant supply and installation
· Excellent knowledge of indigenous aquatic species, habits and grow requirements
· Ability to identify wetland and terrestrial species weed species
· Knowledge of weed species life cycles and how to control
· Knowledge and Understanding of plant water and nutrient requirements
· Ability to liaise with MW and Council officers to ensure timely fulfilment of PC and FC
· Basic understanding of the operation of constructed wetlands and waterways
· Current ACUP Permit. 1st Aid, HR Licence etc
· Physically fit
· Ability to supervise planting crews
· Ability to supervise planting crews in both terrestrial and aquatic environments
· Likes working outdoors
· Strong plant identification skills
· Excellent knowledge of Victorian Indigenous, primarily basalt plains, SDSH and Tertiary Sands Vegetation biotypes
· Knowledge of and/or experience in establishing and maintaining successful wetland environments.
· Ability to treat and rectify plant pests and diseases to ensure healthy growth and environment is maintained.
· Ability to read and comprehend/understand and implement landscape planting plans and plant schedules
