The Department of Corrections performs an essential role in our community and the criminal justice system. Our work is complex, and we often work under difficult circumstances, but the job is rewarding.
Community Corrections services the entire Northern Territory with regional offices in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek with smaller offices located in Nhulunbuy, Groote Eylandt and Wadeye. We reach almost 80 communities.
The role of Senior Practice Leader role suits an experienced psychologist with forensic, clinical and organisational skills. The Senior Practice Leader will supervise five clinicians across the Northern Territory to implement practice reforms specific to the rehabilitation and management of domestic, family and sexual violence offenders. The Senior Practice Leader will also guide the implementation and evaluation of staff resilience initiatives aiming to strengthen recruitment, training, retention and wellbeing across NTCS.
To be successful you require tertiary qualifications in psychology with eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society; demonstrated experience in criminogenic assessment, treatment and risk management of high-risk offenders and expertise in the assessment and delivery of psychological interventions for non-criminogenic needs.
You will also have experience as a supervisor and have demonstrated ability to design and deliver training on a range of criminogenic practice topics and to identify and streamline organisational processes to reduce red tape and achieve practice improvement through the introduction of a multidisciplinary offender management team in Community Corrections. Your ability to conduct research and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential.
