The Northern Territory Correctional Services (NTCS) plays an important role in keeping our communities safe by helping break the cycle of crime, reduce reoffending and improve the lives of offenders through education, training and employment opportunities.
As a Senior Clinician in the Offender Services and Programs unit, your primary objective is to undertake specialist assessment, treatment and guide the management of complex and high-risk offenders, provide staff training on the principles of offender management and contribute to research in treatment and assessment of offenders with a focus on Aboriginal offenders.
Your key duties will comprise of undertaking assessments and delivering treatment to address criminogenic risk and the psychological needs of offenders, generating psychological and risk assessment reports, and developing offence specific program manuals and staff training packages. In addition, you will assist in the development and implementation of clinical governance frameworks to ensure ethical, evidence-based and best practice standards are maintained; ensure inter-jurisdictional relationships are developed and rehabilitative outcomes for Aboriginal offenders are improved.
To be successful you require tertiary qualifications in psychology with eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society; demonstrated experience in criminogenic assessment, treatment and risk management of high-risk offenders and expertise in the assessment and delivery of psychological interventions for non-criminogenic needs. The ability to conduct research, supervise other psychologists and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential.
