About the company:
Our client is a leading NT Civil Construction business based in Darwin who have worked on major defence, industrial, community, commercial and remote construction projects in the NT. Due to current and upcoming projects and business growth, they now have an opportunity for an experienced Civil Estimator to join their team.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator. This dynamic role involves a blend of estimating project costs and managing contracts, providing key support in ensuring the successful execution of projects.
Duties and responsibilities:
Estimation:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for ongoing tenders.
- Analyse project drawings, specs, and requirements to estimate labour, material, and equipment costs.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to refine estimates and budgets.
- Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes for competitive pricing.
- Update estimates as project scope or specifications change.
Contracts Administration:
- Manage and administer contracts with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with contracts and company policies.
- Coordinate contract changes, amendments, and variations, ensuring proper documentation.
- Serve as the main contact for contract-related inquiries.
- Track milestones and deadlines to ensure timely project completion.
- Prepare and submit contract documents for review and approval.
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in preparing estimates and tender responses for Civil Projects in Australia.
- Advance level skills in Excel, MS Word and MS Project are required.
- Existing knowledge or willingness to learn Expert Estimation will be considered positively
- Willingness to commit to a long-term career. Support will be provided for early settlement in the role.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
