Be Part of Something New - Shape the Future of Nurse Practitioner Education

Curtin University is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Senior Lecturer (Teaching Academic) to join our highly regarded School of Nursing in a continuing, part-time role (0.5 FTE with flexible days).

This is a pivotal leadership position in the design and accreditation of our Master of Nurse Practitioner program, set to launch in 2027. This is your chance to shape the course from the ground up - laying the foundation for excellence in advanced nursing practice in Australia and beyond.

You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by a strong academic leadership team, including the Deputy Head of School, the Dean of Learning and Teaching, and the Faculty Accreditation Team, who will collaborate closely with you to bring this vision to life.

Why This Role?

  • Lead a Landmark Initiative: Play a defining role in building a flagship program for advanced practice nursing.
  • Build from the Ground Up: Take full ownership of curriculum design, accreditation, and delivery strategy.
  • Flexible Work Days: Enjoy the benefits of part-time employment (0.5 FTE) with flexible scheduling.
  • Be Supported: Partner with experienced leaders and academic support units to bring your vision to reality.
  • Impact the Future: Help shape the next generation of Nurse Practitioners through innovation and quality education.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the curriculum design, development, and accreditation process for the Master of Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Integrate scholarly research and evidence-based practice into course content and delivery.
  • Coordinate units and collaborate with colleagues to ensure pedagogical excellence.
  • Mentor academic staff and contribute to the broader goals of the School of Nursing.

SELECTION CRITERIA
About You

We are looking for a forward-thinking academic with a passion for education, a deep understanding of the nurse practitioner role, and the leadership skills to drive the success of a new program.

  • Endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for this Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • A record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking unit coordination.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Commitment to our university’s values, policies, and ethical practices.

Role Requirements:
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
