About Us

As Tasmania’s publicly owned training provider, TasTAFE is a vital contributor to the prosperity of the state’s economy through supporting jobs and employment and the economic resilience of our businesses and industry. With a focus on practical, real-life learning, we work hard to ensure the training our learners receive is industry relevant and we provide real industry skills that are highly valued by employers.

TasTAFE aspires to be a place of innovation, creating new ways of training, finding solutions, delivering differently, and increasing access for all.

The Role

Based at our Alanvale campus in Launceston in the picturesque Tamar Valley, you will be the driving force behind training the next generation of heavy vehicle mechanics to provide the best industry training on offer.

Looking for a lifestyle change into a laid-back, yet contemporary city with an abundance of nature at your fingertips? Launceston offers a variety of historic charm, cultural treasures, and stunning natural beauty. With hours of 4WD and dirt bike trails, fresh & salt water fishing, bushwalking, stunning coastlines and beaches that will take your breath away, camping, wineries/distilleries and plenty of sport – there is so much for you to do during your 11 weeks of non-teaching time per year!

TasTAFE are offering relocation assistance for the right candidate to move to Launceston or the surrounding area, with a starting salary to be negotiated based on industry and teaching experience. If you have any questions about this opportunity in Tasmania, please call TasTAFE on 1300 655 307 and ask to speak to a member of the Talent Team.

On any given day, your duties will include:

  • Drive, design and deliver training that ignites passion in future automotive champions
  • Shift into excellence, keeping training aligned to learner and industry needs
  • Fuel student success, inspire and support them from campus to career
  • Tuned admin and digital skills that help keep records accurate and updated

What you bring:

  • Heavy vehicle trade certificate (essential)
  • Current Cert IV in Training & Assessment (essential)
  • Experience as a mentor, trainer or teacher

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.

Supporting a Diverse Workforce
