The Tresillian Arts Centre is a thriving community facility that provides a wide range of art and other recreational courses and activities. We are seeking an arts enthusiast and customer-focused Customer Service Officer for casual work.

The City of Nedlands is located 7km from the Perth CBD and includes a diverse range of features from the beautiful river foreshore of Dalkeith and Nedlands to the crisp white sands of Swanbourne beach. About the role

The core function of the role is to provide high quality customer service to the Tresillian Arts Centre users. The Customer Service Officer role will be responsible for taking course enrolments and room hire bookings, responding to enquiries, receiving payments, assisting with exhibitions, event preparation and general administrative duties.

The Tresillian Arts Centre’s opening hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm (Monday to Friday).

This casual position is required to cover for permanent staff members’ leave and to provide other ad hoc relief during busy periods.

The successful applicant will be required to attend in-house training 2 days a week for 4 weeks, on commencement.

About the successful candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer service role;
  • Demonstrated experience in the visual arts industry;
  • Sound administrative skills;
  • Sound customer service skills; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic record management systems.

What we offer

This casual Level 3 role offers an hourly rate of $47.12 - $52.08 per hour depending on skills and experience (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus superannuation.

The City of Nedlands is situated just 7km from Perth and stretches from the banks of the beautiful Swan River to the edge of the Indian Ocean. A population of over 21,000 live in the suburbs Nedlands, Dalkeith, Mt Claremont, Swanbourne, Karrakatta, and parts of Floreat and Shenton Park. On 1 July, 1959 the City of Nedlands was proclaimed at the command of Governor Sir Charles Gairdner, in the packed Dalkeith Civic Hall. Mr Allan Jenkins read out the proclamation and the Minister for Local Government, Mr Leslie Logan, M.L.C. conducted the official swearing in ceremony of the new Mayor, John Charles Smith, the twelve new Councillors and the auditors. He then appointed Mr Allan Jenkins as the City's first Town Clerk. Among those present was MLA for Nedlands, Deputy Premier Charles Court.

Significant events and dates that contributed to the development of the City of Nedlands:

1893: The first move to establish Local Government in our area with the creation of the Claremont Road Board on 31 March, 1893, governing a total area of ten square miles; forty years after the death of Adam Armstrong, Nedlands' first resident.

1898: Approximately two square miles excised to form the Municipality of Claremont.

1932: Name changed from Claremont Road Board to Nedlands Road Board.

1956: Name changed from Nedlands Road Board to the Municipality of Nedlands.

1959: One hundred and thirty years after the first British settlement around the Swan River, Nedlands achieved City status. Name changed from Nedlands Road Board to the City of Nedlands while under the guidance of Mayor John Charles Smith Esq., JP Mayor.
