Job Summary:

Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, Payroll Officer will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with legislative requirements, and supporting employee enquiries. This role focuses on payroll administration, data integrity, and effective coordination with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure smooth payroll operations.

Job Duties:

Process and Manage Payroll:

Collect and verify employee timesheets and attendance records.

Calculate wages, overtime, allowances, bonuses and other payments.

Process payroll deductions (taxes, superannuation, voluntary/involuntary deductions).

Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries through electronic transfers or relevant payment method.

Responsible for accurate preparation and timely submission of statutory returns such as Income Tax, BAS, FBT, etc.

Compliance and Reporting:

Interpret and comply with relevant awards, EBA, legislation and company policies.

Prepare and file tax reports and other statutory documentation.

Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting.

Employee support and record management:

Respond to employee enquiries regarding wages, deductions and leave entitlements.

Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system.

Process new hires, terminations and changes in employment status.

Assist with the accurate and timely preparation of monthly management and other standard and ad hoc reports required by the business (local & corporate).

Assist with the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes.

Prepare a range of accruals for inclusion in the month-end reporting process.

Ensure completion of all key GL reconciliations during month end reporting process, identify all issues arising and implement plans for quick resolution of issues. Monthly Binder coving all GL reconciliations to be completed during local month end process.

Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register, Capex Approvals process and monitoring all capital expenditure.

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with HR, finance and other departments to resolve payroll issues.

Assist with the preparation of annual audits, statutory accounts and various stock takes.

Support internal and external audits as required.

Perform Accounts Payable and purchasing duties when required.

Provide assistance and support to the Accounting team in the preparation of a wide variety of financial and management information.

Performing other duties as directed.

Knowledge and Skills:

Essentials

Advanced knowledge of payroll processes and procedures.

Ability to manage confidential information securely and professionally.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail skills.

Strong organisational and time management skills to meet payroll deadlines.

Ability to interpret and apply industrial awards and legislation.

Strong analytical skills to resolve complex payroll issues.

Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel) and ERP Systems (ADP/Kronos).

Sound knowledge of Accounting Standards (IFRS) and other key accounting concepts.

General

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to provide clear and accurate advice to employees and stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in a team and independently when required.

Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the business.
