Command51 is a cleaning and grounds maintenance service provider. Due to continued business growth, we are excited to offer a newly created opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team.

About the role:

This full-time, office-based role plays a key part in supporting a growing workforce of approximately 80 employees Corporate and Cleaners covered by the Cleaning Services Award.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with a part-time Payroll Officer to ensure smooth payroll operations. The role is currently split 60% payroll and 40% HR administration - but this balance may evolve, so flexibility is key.

38 Hours Per Week (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

In a typical day you’ll:

Process end-to-end payroll in compliance with Australian legislation and Fair Work/NES requirements and with the support of an outsourced payroll provider.

Manage weekly pay runs for both corporate and award-covered employees (Cleaning Services Award).

Process leave, termination payments, back pay, one-off payments, superannuation, payroll tax, etc.

Prepare and reconcile payment summaries, respond to employee queries, and prepare monthly reports.

Calculate and lodge monthly national payroll tax.

Manage and lodge long service leave liabilities.

Support workers’ compensation calculations and other compliance-related reporting.

Prepare employee lifecycle documentation, including contracts, offer letters, and probation reviews etc.

Manage the onboarding process for new starters, including overseeing onboarding checks (visa verification, police checks, WWCC) and liaising with internal teams for onboarding logistics (uniforms, business cards, company equipment etc.).

Maintain accurate HR records on Employment Hero and ensure employee data is up to date and compliant.

About you:

Proven experience in payroll.

Ideally, experience using Employment Hero HR and EI Payroll.

Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including award interpretation.

Highly organised with a strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.

Flexible and adaptable to evolving responsibilities and business needs.

The successful candidate must have full and unrestricted Australian work rights.
