The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and motivated Natural Areas Officer to join our Natural Areas Team. You will be a passionate team player that has a genuine interest in caring for and improving the City’s bushlands, beaches and river foreshore.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertake site works including pruning, planting, mulching, weed control, rubbish removal, site clean-up and minor fencing and construction work.
Apply natural resource management, ecological restoration, or similar knowledge to support the Senior Natural Areas Officer in maintaining and improving the City’s bushlands, riverine and coastal habitats.
Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers, including community groups, to enable the conservation and improvement of the City’s natural spaces.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
TAFE qualifications and / or equivalent in natural resource, conservation or bushland management.
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in maintaining bushland, riverine and/or coastal environments within the urban environment.
Knowledge of revegetation and ecological restoration practices within bushland, riverine and / or coastal environments.
Sound communication skills to facilitate and encourage community participation in conservation and land management activities.
Working knowledge of computer packages within the MS Office environment, including Word and Excel, and ability to learn how to use corporate software systems.
A current WA ‘C’ class driver’s licence
