As Senior Policy Advisor, you will collaborate with your teammates to achieve outcomes for the Queensland community and heavy vehicle industry by delivering optimal policy, strategy and legislative reforms. To perform this role effectively, you will need to balance the needs of various stakeholders, apply critical thinking and leverage subject matter experts.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Research, define and analyse complex policy and develop solutions that consider a variety of perspectives, including but not limited to the public and industry.
• Identify and pursue policy opportunities to reform regulatory frameworks improving road safety and balancing industry outcomes.
• Meaningfully contribute to a program of strategic policy and legislative work, delivering initiatives in a timely and professional manner, including preparing well researched submissions, briefs and policy documents.
• Engage, communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across Queensland and nationally, including within the department, government, industry and community in relation to the achievement of strategic transport system priorities.
• Bring an enthusiastic and positive approach to work, with an ability to acquire subject matter expertise, be adaptive to change, learn new skills and work within ambiguity and risk.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement with the team.
Highly desirable qualifications and conditions:
To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate:
• The ability to contribute to strategic policy and legislative projects whilst working to tight timeframes.
• Experience in researching, interpreting and analysing complex information to inform policy recommendations.
• Experience in positive engagement and effective collaboration and consultation with internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Experience in successfully developing and delivering policy outcomes, such as developing and delivering communication and engagement plans.
