About Us
Warringu has provided shelter and safety to women and children escaping domestic family violence situations for over 35 years in Cairns. We have recently embarked on a journey to expand our services to ensure our clients receive the best level of care, have access to the required support services, are provided with assistance to build strong and healthy relationships and education to look after themselves and their families to break unhealthy cycles to live a life free of violence.
About the Opportunity
Warringu has an exciting new opportunity for a new position as a Senior Practitioner DFSV to provide a holistic domestic violence response to clients in the establishment of specialist case management plans to women and their child(ren) who access our service as a result of domestic family and/or sexual violence.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
A relevant tertiary qualification in the health or social sciences field and at least 5 years experience in the field of DFSV
Current driver’s license
Blue Card – Suitability for Child Related Employment
Selection Criteria
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team as well as working (work) effectively in a team environment to attain organisation and client goals.
Proven ability to anticipate and resolve problems.
Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues that affect women and children experiencing domestic or family violence and homelessness and an ability to be sensitive to their needs; in particular as these apply to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women and children.
High level of written and spoken communication including the ability to liaise with government and non-government agencies to advocate on behalf of clients.
A strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the leading the delivery of complex case management and contemporary practices for working with women and children escaping family and/or sexual violence, including knowledge of cultural differences. In addition, to understand the impacts this has on intersectional and related issues.
