Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals and families? We’re looking for a compassionate, organised, and community-focused Initial Assessment and Planning Worker to join an inspirational community organisation.
The Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) Worker provides high quality initial assessment and planning services to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This role focuses on assisting individuals and families in housing crisis through conducting assessments, provision of information and referrals, with follow up and financial support where appropriate.
The organisation provides a response to emergency accommodation requests and supports clients to establish and maintain long term housing options. This will involve exploring accommodation and housing options, case management support, which may include referrals to appropriate services which include counselling, crisis resolution, personal care, life skills training, information and advocacy and/or assistance with accessing appropriate long-term housing, training and employment opportunities.
In this vital role, you’ll be the first point of contact for people seeking support - working with them to understand their needs, connect them with the right services, and support them through their journey.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working effectively and sensitively with diverse clients, in crisis and / or on a low income, including individuals and families with high support needs and behaviours
Demonstrated skills and experience in the direct provision of homelessness, community housing or related support services
Qualifications and further studies in community services / homelessness
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices
· Excellent communication, administration and organisational skills
· Confidence working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
· A collaborative values-based and adaptable approach
