Privacy Lawyer
Major Energy Business | Sydney or Melbourne | $145K to $160K package plus bonus and energy discounts

We are working with a major energy business that is looking for a talented privacy lawyer to join its respected legal and governance team. This is a rare opportunity to take on a broad in-house role focused on privacy compliance and governance in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

This position suits a lawyer with around 2 to 4 years of post-qualification experience although more senior applicants are very welcome. Experience in privacy and data law is essential and exposure to FIRB matters will be highly regarded.

Your key responsibilities

• Provide legal and risk advice on privacy compliance data governance and FIRB obligations
• Support the business with privacy impact assessments and policy development
• Help strengthen governance frameworks and contribute to continuous improvement
• Manage privacy registers governance documentation and committee support
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify risk and implement effective solutions

What we are looking for

• A qualified lawyer with a current Australian practising certificate
• Around 2 to 4 years PQE with in-house or top-tier private practice experience. Open to more senior candidates within the salary range.
• Strong understanding of the Australian Privacy Principles and relevant frameworks
• Ability to work across legal governance and compliance issues in a commercial setting
• FIRB experience will be a strong advantage
• Clear communication skills and the confidence to advise a range of stakeholders
• A proactive team player who enjoys variety and takes pride in their work
