In-House Lawyer / Legal Specialist
Permanent Full-Time | 5 weeks annual leave + 18 days personal leave
Based in Speers Point with flexible work from home arrangements
About the role:
As the In-House Lawyer / Legal Specialist at Coal Services, you will provide legal support to the claims teams in Coal Mines Insurance. You will be responsible for optimising results in areas associated with litigation to help drive key strategies throughout the business and reduce costs where possible.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Provide advice (formal and informal) on liability decisions and litigated matters
Manage in-house litigation effectively and in line with processes and procedures
Act as CMI’s legal representative, when appropriate
Coach team members in areas of liability and litigation
Support team members in communicating contentious decisions with stakeholders
About you:
Your education, experience and skills will include:
Tertiary qualifications (Law) essential with prior experience in a similar role (desirable)
3 years post-admission experience
NSW Practising Certificate
Excellent communication skills with commercial acumen
Highly organised and strong ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines
Appropriate knowledge and experience to be confident and comfortable appearing in Court
