We're seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician based in Tasmania to split their time between:
AME Group (AME) – leaders in supplying, servicing and supporting vineyard equipment such as sprayers, canopy management systems, and harvesters, and
Agri Automation Australia (AAA) – specialists in deploying autonomous solutions like Burro robots and GOtrack autonomous tractor systems.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
This dual-role technician position blends mechanical fieldwork (AME) and high-tech deployment & Customer Support (AAA):
AME Group Responsibilities
Service, install, and troubleshoot viticulture machinery, including:
Recycle & Conventional Vineyard Sprayers
Industry-leading ERO Canopy management tools
Undervine Management Tools
Grape harvesters and related hydraulic equipment
Provide scheduled maintenance and rapid-response field support to growers and contractors.
Apply mechanical expertise to diagnose and resolve issues with moving parts, engines, pumps, and controls.
Use your understanding of hydraulic systems to enhance service quality and machine uptime.
Agri Automation Responsibilities
Install and commission Burro autonomous robots and GOtrack Autonomous systems along with other AgTech solutions on farms, ensuring seamless integration into customer operations.
Set up customer sites and provide training for the growers on best practices for operations, safety and maintenance.
Provide remote and on-site trouble shooting, helping customers resolve issues and optimise system performance.
Conduct compelling live technology demonstrations for prospective customers.
Participate in internal and partner-led R&D projects, trialling new products and systems in the field.
An interest or understanding in IT & GIS systems is highly regarded.
🧠 Ideal Candidate Profile
Background in field service, mechanical engineering, ag machinery, or similar.
Confident with mechanical systems, and ideally with some exposure to hydraulics.
Strong IT skills and a comfort level working with connected devices and software systems.
Bonus points for previous experience with agricultural automation, GIS, or viticulture equipment.
Further training in AgTech & autonomous robotics can be provided to the right candidate.
Clear, confident and patient communicator and comfortable training or supporting customers with varying technical backgrounds.
Able to work independently, travel throughout Tasmania, and adapt to varied farm environments.
