About the Role
Reporting to the Asset Engineering Coordinator, the Graduate Asset Engineer will contribute to lifecycle asset planning and management. You’ll collaborate with engineers, contractors, and technical staff to manage the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), support procurement and contractor performance, assist in capital planning, and deliver high-quality reporting to inform infrastructure decisions.
Your work will touch every part of the asset lifecycle from work orders and maintenance schedules to contractor oversight and stakeholder engagement.
About the Graduate Program
This role is part of a structured two-year Graduate Development Program designed to transition you into the role of Asset Engineer. The program includes:
- Mentoring and coaching from senior engineering professionals
- Rotations and structured learning aligned to asset performance, maintenance, capital works, and compliance
- Industry exposure, workshops, and training toward professional development goals
- Competency-based milestones across three defined stages, progressing from familiarisation to autonomous delivery
By the end of the program, you’ll have developed broad and deep technical skills and be ready to step confidently into a long-term engineering career within the water and utilities sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage asset data in CMMS (preventative, reactive, and capital works).
- Assist in procurement and contract management for Operations Division vendors.
- Analyse asset performance and contribute to renewal and upgrade strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure reliable infrastructure delivery.
- Support planning and reporting on condition assessments and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Manage drawings, manuals, and technical registers for assets.
- Provide support to the Asset Engineering Coordinator in strategic projects and capital project development.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Environmental Management, or Project Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyse technical data and identify trends or risks.
- Solid organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office; CMMS exposure preferred.
- Sound understanding of safety, risk, and compliance frameworks.
Desirable:
- Understanding of water treatment processes.
- Experience in risk management or condition-based asset planning.
Licences and Certifications
Mandatory:
- Queensland 'C Class' Driver's Licence
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
Desirable:
- HLTAID009 – Provide CPR
- RIIERR205D – Apply Initial Response First Aid
- RIIERR201E – Conduct Fire Team Operations
- HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely
