The delivery of high-quality case management activities to maximise the safety of victims of domestic and family violence and their children by providing early intervention and multiple points of contact, information and options during a critical time for change that are residing in the Fairfield local government area. This position will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to establish a collaborative case management service providing support to the Clients experiencing and/or escaping domestic and family violence and help their engagement with support services to reduce repeat occurrences of domestic and family violence and provide a safe and supportive environment when participating in case management.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering high quality and culturally appropriate case management, active community development and focused on needs based services to clients.
  • Delivering a holistic service, through the documentation of case plans that supports all clients using a strength-based approach with the focus to increase the client’s capacity and encourage independence.
  • Case co-ordination and/or case tracking to ensure seamless client service provision, including referral to other services.
  • Client support and referrals to improve safety and sustain engagement with court processes.
  • Organise and run educational workshops on Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence including legislation, rights and responsibilities, safe and healthy relationships.
  • Contribute to service sector development initiatives to ensure that available services are effectively coordinated and contribute to the strategic, whole of government objective of reducing domestic and family violence. (Includes participation in local service planning and service system meetings e.g. Domestic Violence Committee, Domestic Violence Network.
  • Provide culturally sensitive crisis support and information to assist with the effective engagement with clients and community
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external partners, agencies and networks.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and data collection in relation to client’s case
  • management records.

Selection Criteria

  • Formal qualifications in community services or Social Work or a related field.
  • Experience in the delivery of high quality casework and crisis counselling assistance and brokerage support to women and their children who are experiencing and/or escaping domestic violence.
  • A sound knowledge and familiarization of domestic, family and Sexual violence, issues affecting victims and their children, Government and sector response and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrate strong cultural awareness, understanding of diversity and contemporary issues within different Communities.
  • High level interpersonal skills and demonstrated abilities in building healthy trust relationships with clients.
  • Ability to establish objectives and self – manage conflicting work priorities to ensure efficient and effective outcomes are achieved to a high standard
  • Demonstrate group work facilitation skills and experience in community development projects.
