About the Business and the Role

Singh Homes is an award-winning, fast-growing, Australian-owned residential builder specialising in the design and construction of high-quality custom homes across Victoria. With a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction, we deliver over 150–200 custom build projects each year—ranging from greenfield sites to knock-down rebuilds.

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our expanding team. This role is critical to our pre-construction process and requires someone with strong analytical and industry knowledge who can prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential building projects.

As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for:

Preparing detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and BOQs based on construction plans, specifications, and client selections

Conducting quantity surveying and cost analysis for custom homes from concept through to construction documentation

Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to obtain accurate pricing and ensure estimates reflect current market rates

Working closely with the Sales, Drafting, and Construction teams to ensure quotes align with project scope and design intent

Identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing value engineering suggestions where applicable

Assisting in tender preparation, contract documentation, and post-contract variation assessments

Ensuring timely and accurate handover of documentation to construction and accounts teams

Maintaining a database of pricing and unit rates and updating regularly based on supplier changes and market trends

Managing multiple estimating jobs simultaneously and working to deadlines

Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an Estimator in residential construction (volume or custom home experience preferred)

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes

Proficiency in estimating software (such as Databuild, Buildxact, or equivalent)

High attention to detail, with excellent numerical and analytical skills

Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications

Sound knowledge of the residential construction cost structure and supplier/subcontractor market

Relevant qualifications in Building, Construction Management, or Estimating
