About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Practice Educator in Nursing to facilitate and support student placements. You will be instrumental in preparing students for placement and evaluating their experience, as well as liaising directly with placement providers to build relationships. This is an opportunity to work with a small, close-knit team and develop lasting relationships with hospital staff and patients.
You will be primarily based at Mater Redlands during semester weeks and then at other sites such as PAH, QEII, Logan or Redland Public outside of semester period according to the operational requirements.
Annual leave will be approved based on operational requirements and is expected to be taken outside of the primary clinical teaching periods that align with placements. There are no placements in January, so you will be expected to take leave during this period.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating all aspects of onsite clinical placements
- Supporting, mentoring and assessing students during Nursing placements
- Maintaining working relationships with School staff as well as placement providers, ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders
- Outside of placement periods, supporting the development of policies and guides

About You
- A degree in Nursing and evidence of continuous professional development.
- Ability to leverage recent industry experience and knowledge of the health and social care sector to deliver current evidence-based approaches, guidance and supervision in practical based education.
- Demonstrated ability to positively develop and manage strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders across a wide client base.
- Demonstrated experience in exercising tact, judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential and personal matters.
- Experience and sound skills in using software packages to support reporting, stakeholder management and program functions.
- Previous supervisory skills of practice education students including but not limited to supervision, educational evaluation, instructing in a variety of learning environments (including simulation) and contributing towards assessment.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, communicate and report back to various stakeholders across the School, University and external providers.
- An understanding of the demands and opportunities within a complex and multidisciplinary practice and/or inter-professional teaching environment and previous experience managing and prioritising these tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership skill and the ability to negotiate to achieve the best possible outcomes in an environment that provides a high level of customer service.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Postgraduate qualification.
- Extensive experience in practice.
- Relevant student supervisory experience in practice.
- Completion of a relevant Preceptorship Training.
- Experience in facilitating inter-professional learning in practice.
- Exposure to student administration, instructing and learning activities or other similar educational environments.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including the right to work in Australia, AHPRA registration, and mandatory immunisations.
