Head Chef – Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club Lead with passion. Cook with excellence. Inspire a team.

We’re seeking an experienced and driven Head Chef to lead the culinary team at Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club. This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role overseeing the food and kitchen operations across our vibrant venue, including:

Crib Bistro 150-seat

Two versatile function spaces (hosting up to 300 guests)

A newly launched Wine & Tapas Bar

As our Head Chef, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining and elevating the high standards that our patrons have come to expect—driving innovation, consistency, and growth throughout all food offerings. You’ll lead and inspire a dedicated kitchen team, develop seasonal and creative menu concepts, and work closely with the Operations Managers to shape the strategic direction of our food services.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the preparation, cooking, presentation, and service of all meals

Manage daily kitchen operations across multiple areas

Develop and execute new menu concepts that align with venue themes and customer preferences

Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with health regulations

Lead, mentor, and support kitchen team performance and professional development

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Head Chef or Executive Chef role

Demonstrated leadership in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment

Passionate and hands-on chef who thrives on the tools

Strong menu design and implementation experience

Excellent planning, time management, and organisational skills

Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering top-quality food and service

A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence, coach, and inspire a high-performing team
