Your new role:
An exciting opportunity exists for 2X Construction Managers to join the School of Design and the Built Environment as teaching-focusedLecturer(s). We are open to hearing from people with professional experience construction managing projects across a variety of scales and contexts. In your new role, you will be part of a vibrant institution and a dynamic team with a passion for teaching, research, and community engagement. The important work you do will contribute to the overall output of excellence in teaching in the school.

The successful candidate will be a passionate educator with relevant industry experience who will have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum in our growing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees. This will involve the coordination and/or teaching of units both in person and online. An ability to connect emerging technologies and professional practices in construction management will be highly regarded. The position will involve engaging with students, collaborators, and industry partners.

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.

Essential Requirements:

  • A Masters/Honours degree with significant industry experience or PhD in Construction Management, or a directly related field.
  • Evidence of industry experience as a Construction Manager
  • Evidence of the development and delivery of high-quality teaching in Construction Management and/or its related fields.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring to less experienced casual staff and supervise honours students.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in industry with Advanced Construction Technologies (such as IDD, BIM, AI, Automation, etc.) OR Modular Construction and Decarbonisation
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex, high quality project outcomes.

Desirable Requirements:

  • o Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) in Construction (4D Scheduling, 5D Cost Estimation, drones, digital twins, cloud contract forms, virtual builder, Robotics and AI, Internet of Things, GIS, Blockchain, etc GenAI platforms that can be integrated to advance the construction process)
  • o Integration of Extended Reality (XR) in Construction; for example, VR/MR/AR/smart sensors etc, so, students need to learn about the available tools the industry uses or can potentially employ to support the IDD and real-time data processing/management in construction projects
  • o Modular Construction and Decarbonisation in the Built Environment (innovative building materials and construction systems – sustainable construction – sustainable buildings)
  • Track record of engagement with industry, community, or government in relation to teaching.
  • Openness to delivering units online and developing high quality virtual and physical learning materials.
  • Professionally recognised credentials or memberships (e.g. AIB, WIBAS, NAWIC, ETC).
  • Knowledge and proven industry or teaching experience in one or of the following areas:
