As a Leading Hand Minor Works at our Sarina Depot, you'll be at the forefront of our civil operations, providing daily instruction and supervision to a dedicated work team.
Your mission is to ensure the timely and proficient completion of maintenance and construction tasks, all while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety. This role involves supervising small teams to undertake roads and drainage maintenance and construction activities assigned by the Supervisor.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, form setting, concreting, installing signs, bus shelters, headwalls, aprons, drainage pipe laying, and addressing any other maintenance issues that may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Guide and instruct a team responsible for road and drainage construction, maintenance, and other civil work duties.
- Hands-On Expertise: Roll up your sleeves and take on tasks associated with the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure.
- Safety Champion: Lead health and safety training and ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety regulations.
- Client Service: Provide exceptional service to both internal and external clients, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and efficiency.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of small plant andequipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualifications: Certificate III in Civil Construction (or the ability to obtain within two years), General Construction Safety 'White' Card, and a QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in providing instruction to small work teams and in the construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and sound time management abilities.
- Licences: Current QLD Medium Rigid Truck 'MR' Class Licence and Traffic Management qualifications (or the ability to obtain within three months).

- Base annual salary of $63,861.20 - $66,214.20 plus allowances as applicable (the level offered will be determined on the successful candidates' qualifications and experience. This is a banded Level 5/6 position)

Special Requirements:
