About the Traineeship

This is not an internship. You will be a paid employee from day one and undertake a structured training program that combines:

On‑the‑job training with experienced counter operators

Online training modules delivered via Australia Post’s learning portal

As you meet training milestones, your duties and responsibilities will increase - as will your GRIA pay level.

What You’ll Learn & Eventually Do

Customer transactions: retail sales, Post BillPay®, Bank@Post®, Western Union®, mail redirections, PO Box openings

Passport applications & ID photos

Extended Identity Services (e.g. TFNs, Lands Title, High‑Risk Work Licences)

Sorting incoming mail, handling carded parcels, and preparing outbound mail

Restocking, merchandising and basic visual displays

Opening & closing procedures

General housekeeping to keep the shop looking sharp

Additional duties may be added as you grow your skills.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential

Genuine desire to learn retail & postal operations

Energetic, friendly and comfortable in a fast‑paced setting

Legally entitled to work in Australia and able to pass Police checks

Physically able to lift parcels (up to ~16 kg) and stand for long periods

Basic computer literacy

Great verbal and written communication

Driver’s licence and/or reliable transport

Desirable (nice‑to‑have)

Previous customer‑service experience

Existing Australia Post WFID

Recruitment Process
