About the role
As the Executive Officer Resource Recovery at Yarra Ranges Council, you will drive the transition to a circular economy by reducing landfill waste, maximising resource recovery, and inspiring community-wide sustainability. This strategic role involves building strong partnerships across Council, industry, and the community, while delivering innovative waste solutions that enhance liveability and environmental outcomes. With oversight of major contracts and budgets, you’ll bring strong leadership, financial expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement to shape a resilient and customer-focused waste management future.
This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).
This is a Band 8 role with a salary range between $124,810 and $139,859 per annum, plus superannuation.
Support work-life balance with a monthly rostered day off and hybrid working arrangements.
Experience and skills we’re looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Ability to inspire, guide and develop a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to align team goals with broader organisational and environmental objectives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, building effective partnerships across Council, community, industry, and government.
Proven experience managing large budgets and ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
Expertise in contract management, ensuring compliance, performance, and value from major service agreements.
Extensive knowledge of risk management, particularly in environmental compliance and workplace health and safety.
Strong communication skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly and influence diverse audiences.
