Waste Recovery Officer
Full Time Permanent Position
Band 5 Salary: $78,456.56 - $90,192.96 plus 11.5% superannuation

We are seeking a motivated and community focused Waste Recovery Officer to support and enhance circular economy and resource recovery outcomes and assist in the delivery of waste services across the municipality.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability through education, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
About this Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in developing, implementing, maintaining, and reporting on policies and programs to deliver and enhance recycling and waste management, including kerbside waste services and transfer stations.
- Delivering community education and awareness campaigns on resource recovery and circular economy issues, including kerbside reform and new recycling initiatives.
- Attending schools, community events, and forums to promote sustainable waste practices.
- Liaising with waste and recycling contractors to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Supporting contractors in resolving operational and contractual challenges.
- Monitoring and reporting on contracted services, including conducting and documenting audits.
- Supporting the transition of services and programs in line with the Victorian Government's Recycling Victoria Policy and regulations.
About You
You have highly developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently to achieve organisational outcomes. Exposure to managing resource recovery projects, with experience in waste and/or recycling systems is highly desirable.
You will also have:
- A degree or diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent experience and work skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in developing and delivering community education campaigns and events.
- Ability to manage resource recovery projects with support; prior experience in waste and recycling projects is desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated administrative experience with transferable skills.
- Prior experience in local government or a similar environment is desirable.
- A current driver's license.
