About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Business Partner to join our high-performing team at Brimbank City Council. This permanent full-time role offers the opportunity to work flexibly across multiple municipal sites, playing a vital role in shaping our people strategy and enhancing the employee experience.

Reporting to the Coordinator, HR Business Partnering, you will act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to leaders across the organisation. You'll bring strong expertise in people and culture practices to:

  • Coach and influence leaders to strengthen people management capabilities, with a focus on employee engagement, high performance, and positive cultural change.
  • Provide strategic HR advice and case management support on a wide range of complex matters including employee relations, performance management, and industrial instruments.
  • Drive organisational change initiatives, guiding leaders through planning, consultation, and implementation aligned to Council priorities.
  • Support leaders in understanding and applying the Enterprise Agreement, policies and legislative requirements in decision-making.
  • Review and streamline HR processes, contributing to continuous improvement and the effective implementation of systems and frameworks that enhance organisational efficiency.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, balancing competing priorities and aligning HR initiatives to business outcomes.
  • Champion a customer-focused HR service, providing timely, consistent, and practical advice that supports strategic workforce goal

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience (5–7 years) in a HR generalist or business partnering role.
  • ER knowledge and case management experience coupled with excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong and trusted relationships
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and influence outcomes in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a genuine interest in driving meaningful workplace outcomes.
  • Experience in local government or a similarly regulated environment (desirable but not essential).
