The National Academy of Professional Studies (NAPS) is looking to appoint part-time and fulltime lecturers to join its growing Academic Team for Bachelor and Master of Information Technology. Candidates with experience and the appropriate qualifications are invited to apply for positions. The Academy which is registered and accredited by TEQSA is centrally located near Central Station in the Sydney CBD.
The Lecturer will be a teaching-focused lecturer and will engage in lecturing, tutoring, unit curriculum development, unit coordination and perform administrative and other duties as required.
4.1. Selection Criteria
At least a Masters degree in IT, and/or equivalent experience recognised by NAPS as appropriate for IT subject to NAPS HR019 Academic Qualifications and Equivalent Professional Experience Policy;
evidence of high-quality teaching experience;
ability to undertake research (including the scholarship of teaching and learning) and administration related to units and programs;
practical skills in at least or more of the following areas: software development, networking, cyber security and information systems.
demonstrated ability to improve teaching performance and undertake curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate level;
highly developed inter-personal skills, with the ability to work with staff and students from diverse backgrounds;
an ability to supervise research projects and postgraduate research students (under supervision if required);
willingness to be involved with and contribute to the professions and/or links with business and industry; and
willingness to share the responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy workplace in order to prevent harm to themselves and to others, and to ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines.
4.2. Responsibilities
· Keep up to date with IT, including recent trends in teaching of the discipline;
· prepare and teach units at undergraduate, with guidance from more senior academic staff if required;
· develop, maintain and revise course, tutorial, and lecture materials;
· meet or exceed regulatory requirements including the professional body or registration requirements (e.g., ACS);
· supervise, train and coordinate tutors and tutorial programs, in conjunction with Course Convenor;
· prepare marking guidelines, and assist with the finalisation of subject results;
· provide students with sufficient opportunity for consultation;
· participate in functions promoting the Department such as Open Days, graduation ceremonies, seminars, and lectures for future students;
· conduct lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical/lab classes, demonstrations, workshops, and student field excursions;
· act as unit coordinators and program coordinators (under supervision if necessary);
· supervise Level A academics;
· supervise research projects;
· conduct research, either discipline-based scholarship and/or scholarship of teaching and learning;
· engage in professional activity and/or industry and business;
· undertake administrative functions at course level and (with supervision for a more senior academic if necessary) at program level;
· attend departmental and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees; and
· other activities as required by a supervisor.
Familiarity with Regulations
Essential Criteria
Familiarity with state and Commonwealth laws and regulations on higher education
Familiarity with state and Commonwealth laws and regulations on workplace safety equal opportunities and sexual harassment
Familiarity with TEQSA regulations
