The Opportunity:

The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager will manage and execute the engagement activities across Queensland to support the delivery of GIICA’s programs. You will shape the public facing engagement of very high-profile and complex activities that impact all Queenslanders, primarily focusing on large infrastructure projects, while also providing support to the accessibility and inclusion, first nations and sustainability efforts in preparation for the Games.

Activities you lead and deliver will strengthen connections with communities, you’ll manage and mitigate risks and be focused on leaving a lasting positive legacy for all. Your insights will inform strategies for best practice community and industry engagement.

As Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will drive the success of the organisation's projects by ensuring stakeholder needs and expectations are managed through strategic, effective and compliant engagement practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead stakeholder and community engagement plans and strategies across key projects which provide a timely, consistent and coordinated approach to delivery and engagement;
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement leaders to ensure effective engagement on the projects within the broader context;
  • Develop and engage with diverse communities, Councils, and contractors to build trust and foster strong relationships to support project goals and enhance engagement;
  • Foster collaboration and build partnerships with external organisations, community groups, and other stakeholders to support project goals and enhance community relations;
  • Lead risk management particularly around reputation across the projects, devising specific mitigation strategies and briefing executives;
  • Engage with the project team to understand and collaborate with the project teams to understand project phases, design, impacts and opportunities for change;
  • Ensure all stakeholder engagement activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act; and
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness, milestones and trends of stakeholder engagement activities, using metrics and feedback to continuously improve strategies and outcomes.

About You:

You will be a senior stakeholder engagement leader with proven abilities working on large and complex infrastructure projects. You will have experience in delivering engagement strategies and approaches through various infrastructure project lifecycles, including planning, design, construction, and operation phases.

Additional Experience:

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder and community engagement and stakeholder mapping and analysis, ideally within the infrastructure sector;
  • High level verbal and written skills including demonstrated experience of writing and delivering strategies, plans and communications materials, with excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong and proven ability to engage with diverse range of stakeholders including experience in conducting public consultations and managing community expectations;
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a capacity to respond to and lead a team through changing priorities; and
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and lead through ambiguity with a hands-on approach and a willingness to contribute at both strategic and operational levels.

Additional information

  • A probationary period of six months will apply;
  • Employment is as a 5 year contract;
  • There are no mandatory conditions or qualifications for this position; and
