Mackay Regional Council is seeking an Executive Manager Corporate Communications and Marketing. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic and high-performing communications, marketing and community engagement team. The Executive Manager will drive continuous improvement as the team adapts to the rapidly evolving communications landscape and provide strategic external and internal communications leadership for council.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management:

  • Manage the Corporate Communications and Marketing Program.
  • Develop and implement communications, marketing and community engagement strategies.
  • Provide policy and operational advice.
  • Ensure efficient internal operations and resource use.
  • Prepare annual budgets and operational plans.
  • Implement, monitor, and report on the Program's approved Operational Plan and Budget.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Coordinate media liaison and responses.
  • Enhance the corporate image ofthe organisation.
  • Develop positive working relationships with stakeholders including community organisations, industry groups, and developers.
  • Support internal communications processes and employee engagement initiatives.

Contract Management:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts related to Corporate Communications and Marketing.

Employee Relations and Compliance:

  • Manage employee relations within the program.
  • Ensure Occupational Health & Safety requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement equal Employment Opportunity policies.

Culture and Leadership:

  • Foster a performance and service-oriented culture.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture.
  • Create a workforce culture that focuses on efficient quality customer service and high performance.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Marketing, Communication, or a related field.
  • Significant senior-level experience in Corporate Communications and/or Marketing.
  • Current "C" class QLD Driver's Licence.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Business Management (highly regarded).
