About the Role
The occupant of this position will perform the functions of Project Manager for Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG). They will deliver projects under direction to support OAWG's projects nationally. They have an in-depth understanding on administration and governance of the delivery of property or construction related projects, Whole of Government reporting requirements and financial reporting.
This role works closely with internal staff and key stakeholders to oversee and deliver upon major and minor construction activities for the department's Australian War Grave portfolio across Australia.
Key Duties
- Lead, coordinate or participate in a range of high-profile specialised property/construction related projects.
- Build and manage relationships with clients at all levels.
- Oversee and engage in national and local procurement for goods and services.
- Manage contracts for optimal outcomes.
- Supervise the production of timely, accurate reports about respective project activities and status.
Essential Attributes / Skills / Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing property and/or construction projects in a government environment resulting in successful outcomes.
- The ability to improve business processes, manage change and promote a positive work environment.
- The ability to understand complex procurement and manage large budgets and assets.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain productive networks with key stakeholders, make presentations and prepare appropriate reporting to suit a wide variety of occasions, and influence and negotiate at a high level.
- Ability to think strategically, solve problems, make sound decisions, take the initiative and respond flexibly to client demands.
Mandatory Requirements
- Candidates must be Australian citizens.
- Candidates must have demonstrated experience in government project management with a focus on property/construction outcomes and associated processes.
- The successful candidate will be required to obtain an Australian national security clearance at the Baseline level.
