- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $125,693 to $138510 + super
We will be creating a Talent Pool from this recruitment for future positions with locations State Wide.
Our First Nations Project Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Aboriginal Engagement and Cultural Advisor to design and implement community and stakeholder engagement strategies for projects delivered by the DCCEEW Water Group. These strategies involve building relationships with stakeholders and key regional, metropolitan and first nations communities; and communications to support this engagement in collaboration with the Water Communications team. The role effectively engages various community stakeholders to plan and deliver infrastructure across the water sector.
A day in this role could involve facilitating involvement and input by Aboriginal Communities, encouraging change in workforce culture by facilitating cross-learning, knowledge sharing, and cultural awareness and establishing networks for Aboriginal stakeholders.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures. You will also have a strong understanding of water resource management issues and the State and Commonwealth Government's water reform agendas as well as development assessment processes and legislative requirements. You are someone who thrives in both an autonomous and collaborative working environment and you are skilled with working in a culturally appropriate manner whilst maintaining business objectives.
Ideally you have sound experience in budget management, project management and planning, risk management, and work health and safety requirements, reporting, and the development and management of contracts, policies and other service level agreements. You are a natural communicator with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
Essential Requirements
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
- Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, government organisations and communities with the ability to communicate across cultures.
- Knowledge, respect, sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal cultural and water issues.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and the ability and willingness to travel.
