THE OPPORTUNITY
The Western Australia Police Force is seeking a highly motivated candidate for this position. The successful applicant will have demonstrated tactical/fieldwork tradecraft skills, with the ability to work in a high tempo operational environment. They will possess leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and support staff within a contemporary tactical and field-based environment, combined with strong relationship management and effective communication skills. Implementing positive change management with an ability to identify opportunities and drive a positive culture within a dynamic environment are also considered essential to the role.
ROLE OF THE WORK UNIT
The Western Australia Police Force is responsible for law enforcement, crime prevention, and emergency management across one of the world's largest and most diverse policing jurisdictions.
As part of the State Intelligence and Command Portfolio, Intelligence Services Division (ISD) is responsible for providing information and intelligence within a dynamic policing environment in order to support the operational outcomes of the WA Police Force. The division is made up of the following three unique streams comprised of both police staff and police officers and each supported by Senior Tactical Intelligence Analysts.
· Recruitment and Training: Responsible for the development of contemporary recruitment and training strategies and programs. This includes planning, developing and facilitating intelligence related internal and external courses, workshops and development opportunities for the division and broader agency.
· Capability, Systems and Partnerships: Responsible for ensuring the WA Police Force remains innovative in the use of systems and capabilities to support and improve frontline operational outcomes and analytical tradecraft for the division. Explores ways to build, create and maintain intelligence networks with internal and external stakeholders to enhance capability and promote information sharing.
· Deployment and Tradecraft: Responsible for the deployment of Tactical Intelligence Analysts into the relevant business areas and ensures they are equipped with the tradecraft and skills required to perform their duties.
THE ROLE
In supporting one of the three streams within ISD, the Senior Tactical Intelligence Analyst leads and contributes to the development, quality and delivery of the WA Police Force’s tactical and field-based intelligence by innovating and implementing capabilities that enhance operational outcomes for the WA Police Force. The position leads and supervises a dynamic tactical and field-based intelligence function to ensure the WA Police Force remains a leader in delivering intelligence services in a dynamic policing environment.
The Senior Tactical Intelligence Analyst roles are interchangeable and the position holders are rotated between the three streams within ISD when required to ensure operational outcomes are achieved.
LOCATIONS
The positions are based at our Perth and Joondalup Police facilities.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to receive a waiver.
It is also a requirement of this position that applicants undertake a psychological assessment to determine their suitability, and as an incumbent, agree to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required.
Applicants are required to have completed or complete the Intelligence Analysis course prior to or within six (6) months of appointment to the position.
Applicants are required to have completed or complete the Human Source Level two (2) course within twelve (12) months of appointment to the position.
