We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join a leading provider of a range of sound reinforcement, audiovisual systems, performance lighting and event communications. With over 50 years of experience and a reputation for technical excellence, this business has experienced significant growth and require a skilled Financial Controller to add to the finance function and modernise financial practices.

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic financial guidance with day-to-day operational responsibility. The Financial Controller will lead the finance and IT teams, bringing best practice to the financial and IT operations, and act as a business partner – providing insights, governance, and support to Project Managers and operational staff.

Being proactive and visible you will be ready to roll up your sleeves and build financial understanding and accountability across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Finance & IT function, including team leadership and financial reporting
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes
• Deliver timely and accurate monthly and project-based financial reporting
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the Managing Director and project teams
• Oversee compliance, internal controls, insurance and OHS-related financial responsibilities
• Support project delivery with robust purchasing oversight and financial governance
• Mentor staff and embed financial literacy across teams
• Identify and implement modern accounting practices and process improvements
  
  

About You:

• CPA/CA qualified with a degree in accounting, finance or similar
• Significant experience in a financial leadership role, ideally in a project-driven or operational environment (e.g. construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, technical services)
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and modernise financial operations
• Strong business partnering skills – able to work with and teach non-finance stakeholders
• Experience with project-based finance systems
• Hands-on experience with insurance and financial risk management
• An aptitude for continuous improvement, best practice implementation, and clear communication
• Comfortable managing purchasing and working with long lead times
