The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria (the Assembly) is the democratic voice of Traditional Owners and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Victorian Treaty process.
The Assembly is seeking an enthusiastic graphic designer responsible for creating communication and campaign materials that align with the Treaty identity. You will work in a creative team to utilise Adobe Creative Suite and design principles to craft engaging artwork, graphics, marketing materials, and web assets.
The successful candidate will have prior experience distilling information and ideas into engaging and easy to understand designs for print and screen, with the aim to deliver effective messaging, and campaign strategies.

The Assembly’s objective is to promote the self-determination and empowerment of Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians through the Treaty process by:
Acting as the First Peoples’ Representative Body to negotiate and agree Statewide Treaty and Interim Agreements,
Acting as the Aboriginal Representative Body to support Treaty negotiations (including administering the Self-Determination Fund),
Enabling Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians to exercise sovereignty, the right to self-determination and other rights; including those contained in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Role Function:
Mid/Senior Graphic Designer
The Mid/Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for developing visually engaging and culturally appropriate design materials that support the Assembly’s communication and engagement objectives. This role works across digital and print formats, ensuring brand consistency and creative excellence.
Team Function:
Manages internal and external communications, including public relations, media relations, with the aim to deliver effective messaging, campaign strategies, and content that align with the Assembly and forward the Treaty process.
Reports to: Creative Director
Responsibilities:
Work on a range of graphic design projects to apply the visual identity and the public campaign for Treaty in Victoria.
Maintain the visual identity using the brand guidelines, templates, and other resources.
Conceptualise, draft and produce finished design products – such as posters, flyers, digital graphics, promotional items, publications and reports etc – to appropriate specifications for a range of applications including websites, social media, and printed materials.
Liaise with printers and suppliers to deliver artwork for production.
Perform content updates to websites using Wordpress CRM.
Maintain file management and content housekeeping, including adding to the photo library.
Other miscellaneous communications and promotional duties as directed.
Skills, Competencies & Knowledge
Confident knowledge of graphic design processes (layout and typography) and their application to social media content, posters, brochures, publications, flyers, and websites.
Ability to express themes through selection of appropriate photography, illustration, and artwork.
Highly competent in the use of the graphic design software to produce a range of materials for screen and print, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Knowledge of contemporary visual language and design trends.
Able to work to deadlines and multitask across a range of projects.
Desirable: Knowledge of the Treaty process.
Desirable: Knowledge of digital campaigning and values based visual communication strategies.
Experience & Qualifications
At least 5 years demonstrated experience working in a relevant design role or project work.
Experienced in working to style guides to maintain standards.
Demonstrated skill and capacity to work on values based communications.
Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Communities and organisations within Victoria.
Demonstrated skill and capacity to work effectively and with integrity in the context of a Victorian First Peoples’ Representative Body.
Location : This role is base in our Collingwood office or with a hybrid office/working from home arrangement.
